Julia loves working with individuals, couples, and families. Julia is passionate about her work with couples and individuals on a plethora of issues including but not limited to: communication, intimacy, deeper understanding, conflict resolution, depression, mood instability, life stressors and transitions, and anxiety concerns. She is here to help you navigate through the difficult times by creating a safe, calm, and collaborative environment to adapt and grow.
Julia’s Therapy Style
Julia uses a holistic and integrative approach to therapy and believes that deeper understanding, acceptance, insight, and connection are important pieces to promote your healing and positive change. Julia draws from an attachment and emotion focused perspective and utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the Gottman method, EFT, skills training, and mindfulness. Julia works to learn and understand you as you are and she approaches you as a unique individual. Whenever you are starting to feel overwhelmed, she finds this small exercise is helpful: take a moment to take a deep breath; unclench your jaw; relax your shoulders, and breathe again.
Julia received her Master of Science in Clinical Professional Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. She has worked in private practice for some time now and absolutely LOVES her work with clients- it lights her up (even when it is hard!).
In her free time, Julia enjoys running, being outdoors, reading a good book, playing with her dog, and spending time with family. Some of her favorite quotes include, “Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it” by Tori Amos and “There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t” by John Green.
