Associate: Beth Cocker, Specializing in Teens and Young Adults
Beth Cocker is an LMSW licensed in the State of Maryland and a graduate from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. She has worked with adolescents in a variety of settings across private and public school settings, as well as community agencies. Beth focuses on the following population:
-Adolescents and Young Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder
-ASD co-occurring with Anxiety
-High-performing students struggling with demands of school, extra-curricular, college applications
-Adolescents struggling with self-harming behaviors
Beth utilizes DBT (Dialectal Behavioral Therapy) in conjunction with CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and mindfulness with her adolescent clients. She encourages teens to be an active part of the change process. In addition, Beth enjoys using a variety of mediums during her sessions including art, music, and journaling.
Beth currently works as a school social worker at the Foundations School in Gaithersburg in addition to The Woolf Center.
When Beth is not working, she enjoys a variety of interests focusing around art and fitness. She enjoys weightlifting, yoga, swimming, biking, as well as recreational flag football.
